NCPR: Jefferson and Lewis were the only counties in our region to increase child care options during the pandemic. Here's how they did it.
"The North Country has a big child care problem. About 85% of our region is considered a child care desert, meaning there are more children than slots in care."

SBA Thanks Boots to Business Instructors of the Year
Watertown SBDC's Robin Stephenson is honored as one of SBA's four "Boots to Business" instructors of the year.
"Before the Boots to Business program began, Robin Stephenson and the New York Small Business Development Center (SBDC) had already been offering a three-hour entrepreneurship training seminar on a quarterly basis at Fort Drum. When the Boots to Business program was rolled out in 2013, Robin was able to make the transition go smoothly, allowing Fort Drum to have the new program “go live” more than a full year ahead of many other locations. Robin currently spends several days a month at Fort Drum working with the Soldier for Life/Transition Assistance Program. "
