The Association of Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC) has announced that William Grieshober, Business Advisor at the Buffalo State College Small Business Development Center (SBDC), has been selected as the 2009 State Star of the New York State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) network. Buffalo State College is part of the State University of New York.

“I am pleased to make this announcement, and to recognize Bill Grieshober for his extraordinary contributions to small businesses in Western New York,” said Buffalo State SBDC Regional Director Susan McCartney. “Bill excels in providing outstanding service to all of his clients and is a valued member of the SBDC team here in Buffalo.”

The State Star designation recognizes outstanding achievement in high quality business counseling and distinguished, long-term service in terms of economic development. Grieshober was honored as part of the ASBDC National Conference this past September in Orlando, Florida.

As a Certified Business Advisor for the New York State SBDC, Grieshober has counseled 1,976 new clients over the past 10 years. His commitment to excellence has enabled many of his clients to start and grow their businesses, creating jobs and generating economic impact for the Western New York region. Over the course of his career, Grieshober’s business counseling produced more than $45,000,000 in economic impact, and created or saved 2568 jobs. Numerous clients have praised his dedication and hard work, and have stated they wouldn’t be in business today without his advice and support.

In addition to counseling business owners, Grieshober is also a certified Public Accountant, and maintains his certification. He also teaches evening classes in Business Communication at Buffalo State. Grieshober holds two Master’s Degrees – one in Adult Education and one in Creative Studies. He is also active in the Western New York economic development community.

America’s Small Business Development Center Network is a partnership uniting private enterprise, government, higher education, and local nonprofit economic development organizations. It is the Small Business Administration’s largest partnership program, providing management and technical assistance to help Americans start, run, and grow their own businesses. With more than 1,000 centers across the nation, the SBDC network assists about 600,000 small businesses every year in face-to-face counseling and training.
